**Hong Kong, China seeks to boost carbon trading with neighboring regions**

HONG KONG, Nov 18 (Reuters) – Hong Kong, China is exploring ways to boost carbon trading with neighboring regions, including mainland China, as part of efforts to achieve its climate change goals, the city’s environment chief said on Friday.

The financial hub, which aims to become a regional carbon trading center, has launched a pilot carbon trading scheme for the power sector this year and is looking to expand it to cover other sectors in the future.

Speaking at a conference, Secretary for the Environment, Climate Change and Sustainability Tse Chin-wan said Hong Kong, China was in discussions with mainland China, Macau and the Guangdong province on how to collaborate on carbon trading.
