Vanessa Hudgens always knows how to make a statement. And over the weekend she did just that with a sheer lilac ensemble at Paris Fashion Week.
For the Valentino fall-winter 2022 show on Sunday, March 6, the High School Musical wore a lace shirtdress in a spring-appropriate shade of purple. The dress was see-through, but Hudgens covered her bottom half with short shorts (or hot pants, depending on what you prefer to call them) in a similar color. The collared, button-down dress has long sleeves that fell past Hudgens’s hands, and is fitted at the waist. The dress also included some sparkly embellishments that popped on Valentino’s pink carpet.
Hudgens kept her accessories minimal. For footwear, she wore nude patent leather platform shoes with a sky-high heel. She also wore diamond earrings and carried a deep purple handbag. Her makeup was equal parts glowy and sultry, with a subtle winged eyeliner, purple shadow, lots of highlighter, and a glossy neutral lip. She wore her hair slicked back into a braid, which brought even more attention to the intricate details in the dress.

Vanessa Hudgens has been all over the place lately thanks to her role as Karessa in the critically acclaimed film Tick, Tick…Boom!, in which she appears opposite Oscar nominee Andrew Garfield. The Netflix film was directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda and follows the life of Jonathan Larson, who wrote the groundbreaking Broadway musical Rent. “Working on this film just made my soul soar,” Hudgens told Glamour in December 2021. “Growing up, musicals were my safe space. It’s what got me out of my shell.”
In that same interview Hudgens also revealed that she hates wearing bras, if the look above didn’t clue you in. “Free the nipple! Bras are uncomfortable,” she said. “If you feel more comfortable and ready to take on the world in a bra, then by all means wear one. But for me personally, they’re just not comfortable. I don’t want to feel restricted. Women used to have to be more covered up. And I feel like it’s a lot more accepting of women to express themselves how they feel fit.”
