Dressing for spring is a challenge. In the span of minutes, you might find yourself sweating in the sunlight and shivering amid a chilly breeze—not ideal if you’re planning on spending time outdoors. Thankfully, Bella Hadid just cracked the layering code with a multicolored bolero sweater, and it’s probably exactly the piece you’re missing from your transitional wardrobe.
On March 21, Bella Hadid was snapped on the streets of New York wearing a dream of a spring outfit. The centerpiece of the look was a shrunken cardigan from Heaven by Marc Jacobs that features a meager three buttons and patchwork-like stripes. The supermodel kept it simple with a white ribbed tank top underneath the shrug. Olive green cargo pants, rubber boots, a denim belt, and skinny sunglasses—each of which played off a color on the cardigan—rounded out Hadid’s ’fit.
Hadid is in good company with her little knit piece: Both Olivia Rodrigo and Emma Chamberlain have been spotted in the exact same sweater—and all three stars styled it over some kind of white top. (Great minds!) Hadid’s cardi is a second cousin to that ultra-cropped Miu Miu set that’s currently setting the internet on fire, albeit a touch more versatile for actually incorporating into your wardrobe.
Bella Hadid’s cropped cardigan isn’t just a (very cute) fashion statement: It also served as a perfect layer for a breezy Manhattan day. When a coat or chunky knit is too heavy and a sleeveless top is too light, a bolero can provide just enough warmth to keep goosebumps at bay—all without adding bulk to your look.
No surprise here, the model’s sweater is currently sold out. But while you wait for it to restock, you can still cop a similar piece for your own closet with these cropped cardigans, plus tank tops that’ll look great beneath them.
