Victoria Beckham’s mother-of-the-groom look at Brooklyn Beckham’s wedding to Nicola Peltz was an absolute knockout that flexed her status as a designer who knows what works for her and what women actually want to wear.
As well as fashioning her own liquid metallic slip that sang of Studio 54 glamour, she outfitted a handful of guests, including Mia Regan, in similarly slinky spaghetti-strap numbers for the event. But while VB knows that the classic elegance of the slip means less is more when it comes to accessorizing, the occasion also called for a mega piece of jewelry. The Beckhams more than delivered on this front.

The couple, who have been married over two decades, decided to repurpose a diamond that David gave to Victoria on the day of Brooklyn’s christening. That 21.5-carat pear-shaped diamond, mounted in platinum with a full diamond-set collet, is now suspended from a handmade French 18-karat yellow gold filigree link guard chain. The pendant it sits in? It’s crafted from an English chain, originally made circa 1870, that features an intricate wild bee motif leading to a fist symbol, which is also known as a figa: a talisman worn to protect against the evil eye, and to bring good luck when given as a gift.
Talismans were a theme of the wedding, with Nicola’s mother, Claudia, instructing the Valentino seamstresses to sew an evil eye into the skirt lengths of the bride’s gown, alongside a special message from her. Victoria Beckham’s symbolic diamond was front and center of her look, and shone all the brighter when framed by the three exquisite silver laces decorating her couture-level dress. As David said in his proud-parents shot of the pair at the Miami celebrations, “Looking good Mrs Beckham.”
