Zoë Kravitz really leaned into the theme at the Tuesday, March 1, New York City premiere of her upcoming film The Batman. In the film Kravitz takes on the iconic role of Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman, opposite Robert Pattinson, who plays Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman. So, naturally, for the movie’s New York City premiere, Zoë Kravitz wore a not-so-subtle (but elegant!) cat-themed dress to celebrate.
Kravitz’s black, sleeveless column dress is from Oscar de la Renta. The corseted bodice has a lace-up detail that would turn heads on any carpet, but the best feature is that the corset’s bust is shaped in the heads of two cats. Kravitz kept the rest of the look simple, allowing the cats on her dress to stand out even more. For footwear, she went for simple black heels, while her jewelry consisted of Lorraine Schwartz tear-shaped diamond earrings and rings. Kravitz brought the whole look together with her hair, which she wore in a tight updo with a high bun and a small, curled piece in her fringe for dramatic effect. Kravitz’s makeup was matte and mostly natural…besides the black cat-eye eyeliner, of course.
Here’s the look:
As we know, only icons play Catwoman. Other women to have taken on the classic comic book character include Eartha Kitt, Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry, and Anne Hathaway. Kravitz actually has done the role before: Back in 2017, she provided the voice for the character in The Lego Batman Movie.
The Batman is already receiving rave reviews that have praised Kravitz’s performance. Some critics are calling it the darkest, sexiest Batman film to date. “Rob is perfect for this role,” Kravitz told Variety. “He was incredible. His transformation was out of this world. [Director] Matt Reeves has a lot of heart, and he cares so much for these characters. I’m just very excited for him to be able to go on vacation because he deserves it. I hope the fans love it because we put a lot of work into this.”
You can see Zoë Kravitz in The Batman when it hits theaters on Friday, March 4.
