Having an annoying ex that comments on every aspect of your life is a struggle many people can relate to—Kim Kardashian included.
On the latest Kardashians episode, Kim revealed that ex Kanye West called her up and told her she looked like a character from The Simpsons after her appearance at the WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards in October 2021, about nine months after they split. The Skims mogul wore a body-hugging chocolate dress from her brand’s collaboration with Fendi, styled with snakeskin boots and Tiffany & Co. jewelry. In my opinion, she looked great.
“He told me my career was over and showed me a picture of Marge Simpson wearing something similar,” Kardashian revealed to her big sister, Kourtney, on the episode that aired May 11.
During the show she revealed that the event was the first time she had picked out clothing for herself after her split from West, who served as a personal stylist throughout their decade-long relationship. The rapper infamously cleared out her closet once they began dating and revamped her style in the mid-2010s, ushering in an era of nude tones, experimental cuts, and body-hugging pencil skirts. Kardashian got his opinion on nearly everything she put on her body to prevent panic attacks, she said.
“I always just trusted him, but it is not just about the clothes. That was the last thing we really had in common,” the mother of four explained in her confessional. “I was always the Kardashians with my sisters. Then I was Kimye. Who is Kim K.? That is the jump. How do I get there without Kanye?”
This isn’t the first time West told Kim Kardashian she looked like a carton character, but it was the first time he used it as a slight. In his first confessional on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, he said he sat down for filming because he saw his life mirroring The Incredibles, down to Kardashian’s larger derrière.
“The wife got a big butt, and I just see our life becoming more and more and more like The Incredibles until we can finally fly,” West said. Classic Ye.
In April, Vogue reported that the fashion mogul wore a flame sweater and furry sunglasses courtesy of Balenciaga during a day out in Los Angeles, setting the internet ablaze with comparisons to both a Hot Cheetos bag and a cartoon superhero. If this is what cartoon dressing looks like these days, I’m in.
