Camila Cabello might be as excited about Britney Spears’s pregnancy as we are, or the former Fifth Harmony singer may just have an obsession with the Canadian tuxedo trend, but there’s no denying her latest look bears the mark of Britney Jean’s influence. Mimicking Spears’s iconic denim-on-denim-on-denim look from the 2001 American Music Awards will probably not make Cabello the godmother of Brit’s baby, but she’ll at least look great at the baby shower.
The “Señorita” singer wore an ultralayered look featuring matching jeans, a corset, gloves, and a bedazzled Diesel trench during an appearance on NBC’s Today show. Cabello stuck to a tried-and-true light wash—a nod to the brightening spring skies and the more-is-more trend we’re seeing slowly take over our Instagram feeds. Cabello also wore an all-denim puffer, also by Diesel, adding an extra layer to her jean look. If Spears and Justin Timberlake were ever to recreate their own iconic matching outfits, they would definitely borrow Cabello’s big blue puffer jacket.
Cabello performed a medley of her hits, including “Bam Bam” and “Boys Don’t Cry” from her latest album Familia, which released on April 8. Over the weekend she sang “Psychofreak” on Saturday Night Live alongside Willow Smith.
