Happy birthday, Lizzo!
Born Melissa Viviane Jefferson, the 34-year-old singer celebrated her birthday on April 27 with boyfriend Myke Wright at popular Los Angeles restaurant Craig’s. And just in case anyone needed a reminder that she is 100% “that bitch,” she showed up in a pair of large black shades that featured the words written across the lenses.
But the accessory wasn’t the only attention-grabbing thing the singer wore for her special day. Lizzo also stepped out in a sheer black dress from the U.K. brand 16ARLINGTON that features an asymmetrical hem, flower crystal embellishments, and gatherings of feathers at the bottom. The whole look is a twist on the traditional little black dress and very, very good.
The “About Damn Time” singer also matched the purple shade of the rhinestones on her dress to her shoes. The metallic mules are by Mach & Mach and add a touch of sparkle with their crystal double bows on the front.
Lizzo’s smile could probably be seen a mile away as she held hands with her boyfriend while walking past the paparazzi. The location and a touch of nostalgia could have been a factor too—Craig’s seems to be a favorite restaurant of Lizzo, considering she’s been seen there before with Wright before the pair confirmed their relationship. The Watch Out For the Big Grrrls creator just confirmed in an interview with Andy Cohen this month that she and her “mystery man” are officially a couple.
It’s been a busy time for Lizzo. In addition to a new relationship, designing her athleisure brand Yitty, and performing with Harry Styles at Coachella, the “Good as Hell” singer has even made time to pose for a glamorous birthday photo shoot.
The singer recently posted on Instagram an image of herself inside an extremely large prop cake while wearing hot pink to celebrate an incredible year (and of course, Taurus season). Her cotton candy hair and bubble gum pink makeup were crafted by her longtime beauty team, Shelby Swain and Alexx Mayo. “I don’t need no cards.. I don’t need no gifts… just world peace… and for people to be kinder to themselves….. (AND FOR EVERYONE TO STREAM ‘ABOUT DAMN TIME’ AT LEAST TWICE),” she wrote in the caption.
