Salma Hayek Pinault was photographed wearing a fringed maxi skirt with a blazer, and now I must be photographed wearing a fringed maxi skirt with a blazer. Clearly, this is the look of the summer. If you don’t believe me, just ask Jessica Biel and Kaley Cuoco.
Hayek Pinault wore a head-to-toe black look while arriving at Good Morning America in Manhattan on Wednesday, June 14. But it’s her statement skirt—a choppy fringed piece that’s giving car wash couture—that captured my attention.
The actor paired the skirt with a long black single-breasted blazer, chunky black platform heels fit for a Bratz doll, a curved black Balenciaga shoulder bag, and black rectangular sunglasses. The 56-year-old enhanced the look with small gold hoops and a large gold pendant necklace. She wore summery makeup, with a matte pink lip, and wore her dark hair sleek and straight, parted in the middle.
If the carwash fringe skirt looks familiar, that’s because it has been worn recently by not one but two other stars. Kaley Cuoco wore the skirt and blazer, from Michael Kors, for the Los Angeles premiere of her Peacock series Based on a True Story earlier this month.
Before Cuoco and Hayek, Jessica Biel wore a similar skirt (also Michael Kors), which she paired with a black blazer and chunky belt, for the Los Angeles premiere of season two of the Freeform series Cruel Summer. Biel styled her look with a scoop neck top and knee-high boots.
What is this, the Sisterhood of the Traveling Skirt?
Salma Hayek appeared on to promote her role as herself in the upcoming season of Black Mirror (the all-black ensemble is starting to make even more sense now). “I was shocked when I read the script. I was shocked that my name was in it and it was not difficult at all [to play myself] because it was an opportunity to make fun of myself,” she said. “It’s kind of like a parody of me.” The new season of Black Mirror premieres on Netflix Thursday, June 15.
